چکیده

A large body of experimental and theoretical work has investigated the role of the cerebellum in adaptive motor control, movement coordination, and Pavlovian conditioning. Recent experimental findings have also begun to unravel the implication of the cerebellum in high-level functions such as spatial cognition. We focus on behavioural genetic data suggesting that cerebellar long-term plasticity may mediate the procedural component of spatial learning. We present a spiking neural network model of the cerebellar microcomplex that reproduces these experimental findings. The model brings forth a prediction on the interaction between the neural substrates of procedural and declarative spatial learning.

Investigating the Effect of Music on Spatial Learning in a Virtual Reality Task

Background: Spatial learning and navigation is a fundamental cognitive ability consisting of multiple cognitive components. Despite intensive efforts conducted with the assistance of virtual reality technology and functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) modality, the music effect on this cognition and the involved neuronal mechanisms remain elusive. Objectives: We aimed to investigate the...

Astrocytes in Molecular Layer of Cerebellum after Spatial Learning

Introduction: Previous studies have suggested that the cerebellum is a primary site of motor learning. The cerebellar cortex has a particular glial architecture with large astroglial cells. In addition, more recent works have revealed that astrocytes play a more active role in neuronal activity. The aim of this study was to evaluate the number of astrocytes in the molecular layer of rat's cere...

a qualitative-connectionist approach to Robotic Spatial Planning: the Peg-in-Hole case study

Qualitative spatial reasoning for actual robots in real-world environments must necessarily involve perceptive knowledge, since complete a-priori information of the outer world can never be assumed, not even at a qualitative level. In this paper a contribution is made towards the integration of quantitative data – namely, sensor signals – into a higher level qualitative plan. This integration i...

A Connectionist Approach to Embodied Conceptual Metaphor

A growing body of data has been gathered in support of the view that the mind is embodied and that cognition is grounded in sensory-motor processes. Some researchers have gone so far as to claim that this paradigm poses a serious challenge to central tenets of cognitive science, including the widely held view that the mind can be analyzed in terms of abstract computational principles. On the ot...

روابط بین «ویژگی‌های شناختی» و «پیکره‌بندی فضایی» محیط مصنوع، تجربه‌ای در دزفول

In an urban built environment, on the one hand people behave based on their spatial cognition of the environment spatial behavior in interaction with the environment depends on the spatial cognition. On the other hand many researches have also pointed that spatial configuration as the relational characteristics of the physical elements of environment, influence on the spatial cognition. Based o...
